ABSTRACT

Joe Wilson This chapter will attempt to set out the position that learning technology in further education (FE) was at ten years ago, review the changes and drivers and finally look to the future and the ways that the further and higher education sectors can learn from each other. The scale of this task necessitates taking a broad overview of a myriad of initiatives and reports from a range of agencies operating at local, regional and national levels. Inevitably this means all projects and initiatives cannot get equal coverage. In compiling this piece I consulted with colleagues in all the national regions and I hope it captures the essence of an exciting and vibrant period in the development of learning technology in the FE sector.
