ABSTRACT
The ratio k = M /H is the magnetic susceptibility per unit volume and is a dimensionless quantity. In practice, susceptibility is more conveniently expressed per unit mass (gram susceptibility) than per unit volume: x = K/P> where p is the mass per unit volume of the substance. The susceptibility is a second rank tensor.
