ABSTRACT

The major and minor salivary glands of the head and neck are the site of a diverse group of both benign and malignant neoplasms. Because of the low incidence, large number of different histologic subtypes, variety of potential sites, and the need for extended followup, an individual clinician is unlikely to accumulate significant personal experience with most types of salivary neoplasms. In this chapter, the aetiology, incidence, pathology and presentation of salivary tumours will first be reviewed. Treatment options and results will then be discussed, in an effort to provide insight into these varied and challenging neoplasms.
