ABSTRACT

Barry’s mother, Cynthia, pulled into the garage and shut off the ignition. She was completely bewildered. What was going on? They were a typical American suburban family. Her husband Richard was a neurologist; she was a volunteer who raised money for the symphony and the art museum. Their children, Barry, 17, and Lisa, 14, were the center of their lives. They were wonderful kids, bright, good students, active in Little League, soccer, scouts, and a dozen other activities as they were growing up, now completely absorbed with the world of high school and friendsperfect teenagers.
