A b s t r a c t Modern methods f o r the a n a l y s i s o f membrane s t r u c t u r e s a r e e v o l v i n g . Two problems o f a n a l y s i s a r e a s s o c i a t e d w i t h membrane s t r u c t u r e s : ( i ) shape ( o r form) f i n d i n g ; ( i i ) r e s p o n s e ( d e f o r m a t i o n and/or s t r e s s ) a n a l y s i s . Shape f i n d i n g i s a n o n - t r i v i a l s t a t i c problem t h a t i s not c o n s i d e r e d i n t h i s paper. T h i s paper i s concerned w i t h r e v i e w i n g methods o f n o n l i n e a r dynamic a n a l y s i s o f membrane s t r u c t u r e s .
