ABSTRACT

Lucie Bell meets Michael and Richard in her office. It is a particularly nice, tastefully decorated space. At the risk of being sexist, it has a woman’s touch: woven carpeting setting off a glass desk and conference table. She likes wall decorations; there is a picture of her family-Ma, Pa, and her brother and sisters, another one of her on a tall gray horse and, in pride of place, her framed PhD in science. Lucie is dressed in a white lab coat and flat shoes. She shakes Michael and Richard’s hands and then leads them over to the round conference table. “I’m very glad you are here. I’ve been looking forward to this,” she says, “and what a delight, I get both of you!” Michael and Richard return her smile; she genuinely seems glad to see them. A nice change from Ronson.
