Nothobranchius annual shes experienced an initial moment of interest in the 1970s and 1980s. N. guentheri was rst studied in the context of sexual selection by Haas (2006) and were then used in some exploratory aging studies but never became established, possibly due to the relatively long lifespan of this species, which is about 18 months (Bailey, 1972; Markofsky and Perlmutter, 1973; Markofsky, 1976; Markofsky and Milstoc, 1979; Balmer, 1982; Cooper et al., 1983).
