ABSTRACT
Our research is devoted to the software engineering world and therefore we give a short explanation of its main parts in this chapter. We examine the software process, product, and resources and try to distinguish the importance of the human performance within. Later we focus on the software team roles and their responsibilities and describe them in order to understand the importance and complexity of human beings in the software engineering process. The chapter ends with summarizing the personal characteristics of the different roles, which is the input for the further research in the next chapter.
