ABSTRACT

Hackers are usually young and want to beat the system by breaking into networks of computer systems. Maintaining network and computer security takes a lot of human effort and a lot of money. Intrusion detection systems are placed in a network to detect intrusions, viruses, and break-ins that can exist on a network. The goal of network management and administration is to assure that the network is properly operated and maintained and that the integrity of the data is maintained. A hacker is a person who enjoys the technical field, exploring computer systems and networks as a challenge. The cost of being down for some companies is very large, and the cost of avoiding that with proper network security is well worth the cost. Being proactive with security is far more cost-effective than cleaning up afterward. There are many untold stories of companies that folded when they lost their data and computer systems.
