ABSTRACT

Planning the scope Once the Total Project Control (TPC) business case has been developed and reviewed by the customer, product champion, senior management, and/or project management review committee, it reaches the first “gate.” A gate is a decision point in the project process. At this point, it will be either killed, tabled, returned for further information and analysis, or approved for detailed scope development. Approval should bring with it funding for the necessary resources to complete the entire planning process, including detailed scheduling and costing. Figure 4.1 shows the first three phases through the completion of the detailed plan.
