ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the latest developments in flexible supercapacitors, based on carbon materials, conducting polymers and cellulose, will be presented and discussed. Flexible and rechargeable energy storage devices are considered to be crucial components for fully flexible electronic devices. Flexible and stretchable electronic devices have emerged as new generation technologies for wearable and implantable applications, including wearable displays, high performance sportswear and bio-integrated devices. In order to meet the requirements of portable and wearable electronics, the development of supercapacitors is moving towards improving the performance in flexibility and stretchability.
