ABSTRACT
This chapter describes setting up a Multidimensional Project with Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Analysis Services that replicates the underlying Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) Database used at the online FedScope site for Federal Government Employment Data as of March 2015. Hands-on Tutorials were used to build, process, and deploy an OLAP Multidimensional Database using Visual Studio 2017 with an SQL Server Database as a Data Source for the Multidimensional OLAP Database. Processing of the OLAP Cube aggregates the Measures by all Dimensions in the SQL Server Analysis Services Database. Full Cube processing can be expensive in terms of CPU time, especially when millions of records are involved in the Data Source. In the Data Source View panel, the Cube Structure based on the Star Schema in the Data Source is visible along with the Measures and Dimension Windows on the left side of the main panel.
