ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the three important stages of defining a successful prototype: usability, which moves to user testing the design, the results of which lead to the final acceptance of the user. According to the international standard ISO 9241-210, design concepts, even at early stages, should be evaluated for refinement in more depth and detail to fulfill user needs better. Use the method of task modeling and simulations to understand what people want. Using task-modeling methods, we can give direct tasks to the user, understanding from their responses to the interface whether it is effective and easy for them to comply with the requested tasks. Due to the lack of consistent user acceptance testing, many software programs have had to deal with bugs. In 2002, a study commissioned by the National Institute of Standards and Technology found that software bugs cost the US economy alone $59.5 billion every year.
