ABSTRACT

Network and adaptive sampling in tandem researchers successfully applied in estimating 'child-laborers' in a survey in an Indian state as reported in Chaudhuri's text. In the international sphere of application Small area estimation or 'small area estimation' is essentially model-based ignoring the use of sampling design. An incidental problem is that though every 'adjusted domain estimator' outperforms the 'unadjusted domain estimator' when added across the domains, they may not match the 'estimated population total'. In India since 1950—1951 the National Sample Survey 'Organization' (NSSO) has been carrying out every year a nation-wide survey covering various items of inquiry. In NSSO surveys samples are drawn separately for each of the 30-odd states or union territories (UT) and in each state/UT, samples are drawn separately for urban and rural areas. S. L. Warner gave his randomized response techniques to elicit trustworthy facts on sensitive and stigmatizing issues.
