ABSTRACT
Although best known for his Laws of Thought (1854), which contained the important notions of Boolean algebra and Boolean logic, he also made significant contributions to the study of differential equations and difference equations. He was one of the first mathematicians to introduce operator methods in the solution of differential equations with constant coefficients.
