ABSTRACT

Companies embarking on Lean adoption go ahead and initiate enterprisewide rollout of the standard process. Practitioners of Lean often get standard work (Lean practitioner jargon for standardized procedure) done for all work that happens in the firm. You will see such procedures being displayed across desks of associates doing jobs such as data entry, customer service, billing, hospital surgical preparations, account relationship management, design, and so on. This is done more out of a senior-level dictate and not as something that would enable their work. Have we not seen those colorful standard works on desks? They look colorful but are rarely used.
