ABSTRACT

Implementing Lean is about driving a fundamental change in the way organizations operate. Like all change initiatives, it is imperative that we communicate to all concerned the reasons and benefits of implementing Lean. Everyone in the company should know the larger intent and objective with which it is driving this transformation. A joint team with representatives from top management, middle management, and front liners should take the ownership to communicate the answers to the following half-dozen questions to everyone in the organization:

1. What is Lean? 2. Why is there a need to adopt Lean now? 3. How does Lean thinking contribute toward achieving the larger

vision of the organization? 4. What are the key business objectives that we plan to accomplish

through Lean? 5. How would it benefit each one of us? 6. How can each one of us (employees) contribute in the transformation?
