ABSTRACT
Children are not small adults. Paediatric patients vary considerably and include the following groups:
Premature – less than 37 weeks post-conception
Neonate – first 28 days of life or <44 weeks post-conception Infant – 1 month to 1 year
Child – >1 year to 12 years
Adolescent – 13 to 16 years
