ABSTRACT

Traditional hospital posts for vocational training scheme (VTS) doctors are sometimes unsuitable but how can they be improved? What makes a good post ‘work’ educationally? Is moving the location from hospital to community likely to solve all the problems? A research project conducted by the South London Organisation of Vocational Training Schemes (SLOVTS) has uncovered some ‘keys to success’, which we would like to share. We also have first hand experi ence of pitfalls to avoid.
