Introduction The management of violence and aggression makes explicit the need to have an understanding of legal principles and lawL2 This will aid staff in the decision making process and lead to greater confidence when taking charge of a challenging situation (see Figure 8.1) . The examples given in the following chapter are based on the law pertaining to England and Wales; this is similar to the law in Scotland and other countries across the European Community.
