ABSTRACT
After the conclusion of the national party conventions in the summer of a presidential election year, the party nominees enjoy a short breathing spell before the fall general election campaign gets into full swing in early September. Then, for the next twomonths before Election Day in early November, the candidates usually barnstorm across the country in simultaneous attempts to persuade undecided voters that they are the best qualified candidates and to retain the allegiance of their previous supporters.
