ABSTRACT
The Standard Model is not the last word — it is essentially the summary of how matter and forces behave at energies so far explored. It is generally recognised as being an approximation to a richer theory whose full character will eventually be revealed at higher energies, such as those available at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN.
