ABSTRACT

We beg in t his cha pter b y d iscussing t he ba sic r ules o f perspec tive (Section 5 .1), a nd then we brie y analyze these rules from the mathematical point of view (Section 5.2). In Sections 5.3 and 5.4, we consider various types of three-dimensional objects, including polyhedra, spheres, cylinders, and cones. In Section 5.4, we classify curves that are intersections of cones with planes (the conic sections) and introduce methods for sketching such curves. In the last section, we present a brief overview of some three-dimensional analogs of objects and notions we have covered earlier.
