ABSTRACT

Currently, isotretinoin is the drug of choice for the management of severe,

treatment-resistant acne vulgaris. Treatment with isotretinoin can lead to both

marked improvement and long-lasting remission. Essentially, isotretinoin has the

capacity to “cure” acne. In a field where physicians are usually resigned to

suppressing inflammatory skin disorders until they “burn out,” this power of

isotretinoin is astounding.
