INTRODUCTION

Through their long evolution, living cells have developed different mechanisms

to counter the increasing stress that they must face. Today, it is well known that

stress directly influences our health and well-being, and affects the functioning of

most of our organs, including our skin. Stress has different origins including

environmental, nutritional, and psychological causes. In recent years, interest

in environmental stresses has increased and has become especially focused on

UV stress, as UV plays a central role in photoaging and skin cancer. Other

important causes of stress in living cells include thermal shock, oxygen free

radicals, chemical substances, as well as inflammatory and infectious states,

among other causes.
