ABSTRACT
Research in pulmonary immunotoxicology has been assuming increasing importance in elucidating how workplace or environmental agents cause changes in immune function in the lungs that allow for indirect alterations in the overall health of exposed individuals. This chapter reports how our understanding of the pulmonary immunotoxicology of select agents, i.e., biologics, pollutant gases, cigarette smoke, and metals, has evolved.
