ABSTRACT

This chapter is related to the societal challenge of managing Health through e-health. Providing health care using information and communication technology in both developed and developing countries, has already shown some promising implementations. However, there is a lack of research on the major challenges of implementing e-health solutions for developing countries. We identified e-health implementation challenges for developing countries, together with a corresponding set of solution. The systematic literature review of 46 articles resulted in six themes of challenges: (i) lack of skilled stakeholders, (ii) inadequate infrastructures, (iii) lack of acceptance, (iv) limited resources, (v) inadequate information communication, and (vi) inadequate process guidance. Based on the findings, we grounded our proposed theoretical model to focus on three

aspects: (i) guidance, (ii) acceptance, and (iii) building base. We theorized that this model will improve or will help a developing country’s e-health implementations.
