ABSTRACT
Until recently, supply side factors such as yield, disease/pest resistance, age at maturity and physiological factors such as weed control were considered as critical for release of elite cassava genotypes by research institutions. Recently, other demand side factors based on industrial utility and nutritional functionality guide the release of elite cassava genotypes. These factors include starch and vitamin A content.
