ABSTRACT
Farmers, particularly small farmers, practice or participate in multiple kinds of seed systems to produce and obtain the seed they need. These systems can be broadly divided into two types: a formal seed system and a local system. The local system is also sometimes called the informal, traditional or farmer seed system.
