Over the years, paradigms of agricultural innovation have shifted considerably. Perspectives have moved from linear transfer-of-technology models in the 1960s to ‘farmer first’ and farming systems research (1980s and 1990s) to the more recent perspective of agricultural innovation systems (AIS).
