ABSTRACT

Regardless of the management system chosen, the overall goal of all farmers is the production of a safe and nutritious food product at a reasonable price. Any system used must be sustainable. Sustainability is a multidimensional, complex concept. It has simply been defined as meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of the next generation to meet their needs. Any production system should be economically profitable, ecologically sound and socially acceptable. The evaluation should address human food needs, environmental preservation, economic feasibility and quality of life.
