Disease cycle The disease epidemiology of CYVD has not been determined. There is no evidence that the pathogen is seedborne. It appears that the squash bug vector is the most important factor in pathogen survival and distribution. Overwintering populations of this insect can transmit the pathogen to new crops in the spring.
