ABSTRACT

The most frequent indications for UVB in the UK are psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and polymorphic light eruption (for which phototherapy is given as prophylaxis, rather than to suppress an established eruption). The main indications for PUVA are similar. For the diseases most commonly treated, controlled studies form the evidence base, but for treatment of rarer conditions the evidence for use of UVB or PUVA comes from case series rather than controlled studies (Table 19.2).
