ABSTRACT

Pathologic Pathologic fractures occur when a disease process weakens the bone. Causes may include neoplasia, infection, and nutritional or metabolic bone diseases.

ANATOMIC LOCATION The location of a fracture in a long bone may be described as diaphyseal, metaphyseal, or epiphyseal. Other anatomic nomenclature is often used to describe specific fractures more completely, including terms such as condylar, supracondylar, subtrochanteric, and articular.
