135 A two-year-old, spayed female Labrador Retriever was presented with a three-month history of right hind limb lame - ness. On physical exam ina tion crepitus could be elicited from the right stifle. Under sedation, 3-5 mm of cranial drawer mo - tion could be elicited. Radio - graphs of the right stifle reveal - ed a synovial effusion and moderate de genera tive changes. Synovial fluid was collected from the affected stifle. The nucleated cell count was 4.5 × 109 cells/l and the viscosity was normal. i. What are the landmarks for arthro centesis of the stifle? ii. Give a cytologic description and interpretation of the lesion (135).
