ABSTRACT

If a screw or wire is placed from the ulna to the radius in an immature animal, disparity in the growth of the ulna and radius can result in elbow incongruency and limb deformity. In addition, if a synostosis develops between the radius and ulna, normal pronation and supination may be limited. Screw or wire removal should be done three to five weeks following surgery to improve pronation and supination of the ante brachium.
