ABSTRACT
DEFINITION Sexual violence is defined by nonconsensual completed or attempted sexual activity and encompasses a range of behaviors that may not always include physical contact between the victim and the perpetrator. Forms of sexual violence include a completed or attempted sex act, abusive sexual contact, and noncontact sexual abuse, all of which are considered to be sexual abuse even when they are committed against a subject who is incapable of consent or refusal1.
