ABSTRACT

DEFINITION, ETIOLOGY, AND EPIDEMIOLOGY Acrochordons, or skin tags, are benign fleshy papules that commonly occur on the neck, axillae, and groin1.

Acrochordons can be found in 25-60% of individuals. The incidence rises with age. Men and women are equally affected. Although the etiology is unknown, they occur with higher frequency in obesity, pregnancy, and diabetes. There may also be a familial tendency to the development of multiple skin tags1.
