ABSTRACT
The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) have established guidelines for the management of patients with valvular heart disease (1). Three categories were established to indicate the weight of evidence, supporting the current recommendations. This chapter will review current indications and assessment for patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and/or aortic regurgitation (AR) undergoing an aortic valve (AoV) or aortic root procedure.
