In the general sense, evaporation refers to any change in phase of a component from liquid to gas. Vaporization, sometimes used interchangeably with evaporation, is at times specifically used to designate the total change of a liquid phase to gas (vapor). This entry discusses types of evaporators, typical applications for evaporators, and the costs associated with an evaporator in terms of equipment and operating.
