ABSTRACT
The principles of biopharmaceutics are very important in the design of a drug product. Biopharmaceutics allows for rational design of drug products to deliver the drug at a specific rate to the body to optimize the therapeutic effect and minimize any adverse effects. This entry focuses on the biopharmaceutical factors that influence drug product performance such as drug product quality and manufacture, the rate of drug release, the rate of dissolution, and the bioavailability of the drug.
