The focus of this entry is the introduction of the major concepts and applications of cooling and congealing processes in the pharmaceutical industry. This entry discusses typical systems that make use of melt-congealing or spray-congealing processes, the equipment and important operating variables used, typical matrix substrate materials, important processing considerations, and the advantages and disadvantages of using these systems.
