ABSTRACT

Orally disintegrating dosage forms, also known as fast melt, quick melts, melt-in-mouth, fast disintegrating, rapimelts, and orodispersible systems have the unique property of disintegrating the tablet in the mouth within seconds without chewing and without the need for water. This entry examines the presence of fast dissolving dosage forms within the pharmaceutical industry and discusses their manufacture, their applications, their different types, and their product characterization.
