ABSTRACT
The objective of lyophilization is to convert an aqueous solution to a dry powder, which is stable during the specified shelf life and can be easily reconstituted for administration to a patient. This entry attempts to summarize the formulation, process design, packaging, analytical, and stability considerations for lyophilization of biologics along with selected developments in the science of freeze-drying.
