ABSTRACT
Metered dose inhalers (MDIs) are pharmaceutical delivery systems used to aerosolize active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) for delivery to the lungs, via the mouth (or to the nasal cavities, via the nose). This entry reviews how metered dose inhalers work, their manufacture, advancements in analytical testing, and the future of metered dose inhaler products.
