ABSTRACT
Poor drug solubility still ranks among the top challenges to the development of an oral dosage form. Lipid-based formulations have emerged as an effective means for improving the gastrointestinal absorption of many of these drugs and are now being applied in many drug development programs worldwide. This entry outlines the key biopharmaceutical and physical pharmaceutical aspects for the development, characterization, and application of oral lipid-based formulations.
