ABSTRACT
Particle shape of fine powder particles is best assessed using two-dimensional particle outlines produced by types of microscopy such as light microscopy or scanning electron microscopy. There are several advantages of this technique, such as control over the measurements, view of the particles and judgment of the overall geometry. This entry outlines the methods to characterize particle shape and also reviews shape analysis using laser diffraction techniques.
