ABSTRACT
The concept of manufacturing pellets of different sizes from fine powders finds application in a wide number of fields, including pharmaceutical, food, fertilizer, ceramic, steel, water purification, and powder metallurgy. Hence, the meaning of the term “pellet” may vary depending on the fields. This entry discusses pellet formation and various pelletization processes and briefly examines preformulation studies and endpoint monitoring of the pelletization process.
