ABSTRACT
This entry will highlight the factors influencing the pharmacokinetics of the drug in the fasting and the fed conditions as well as the importance of performing food-effect studies in early drug development. It also provides a pharmaceutical industry perspective on the models that are presently available to prdict the presence and the extent of food-mediated alterations in absorption, metabolism, and clearance as they relate to a drug development program.
