ABSTRACT
The Japanese Pharmacopeia (JP), which dates back to 1886, provides the official standards and test methods for regulating the properties and quality of drugs important for medical treatment. This entry provides a general overview of Japanese pharmacopeia standards, including a discussion of regulatory procedures, reference standards, international harmonization, and also examines non-pharmacopeial standards for pharmaceuticals in Japan.
